Dancer Information 2010 Spring Student Showcase - 6th Annual "Spanning the Globe" Dear Dancers and Parents, The Annual Spring Showcase is a fun and exciting way for dancers to share their dance accomplishments with family and friends. We must work together to make the Spring Showcase a success. Therefore, it is essential that both dancers and parents make a serious commitment. To participate, the following are required: SIGN-UP DEADLINE: Commitment forms and fees are due Feb. 19. ENROLL: Students MUST be enrolled in Winter/Spring Session Parts 1 & 2 with excellent attendance (January - May). In addtion, students must also register for the "Spring Showcase Week" ($20 per class). ATTENDANCE: Students who miss two or more classes may not participate. Students participating in the Showcase agree to attend the tech rehearsal for their class and the dress rehearsal. In addition they agree to perform at both shows. PARENTS/ADULTS: As many of you know, Dynamic Dancing with Yvette is a "one-woman show". To help the Showcase remain a fun experience for all involved, adult dancers and parents of younger dancers agree to help with one task. A sign-up sheet of "Volunteer Tasks" will be posted in class. Remember, each group of dancers is a team and needs all of their team members to have a successful "game". Please speak with me if you have any questions about the requirements stated above. With everyone pitching in, everything gets done and a positive experience is had by all! -Yvette LOCATION: Woodland High School Little Theatre - 21 N. West St., Woodland, CA TECH REHEARSALS: Mon. May 17th thru Fri. May 21th held at the theater (except Wed. classes). Most (not all - most) classes' rehearsals will be at regular class day & time, though a bit longer in length DRESS REHEARSAL: Saturday, May 22nd - 1:30pm to 4pm SHOWS: Saturday, May 22 - 6 pm call & 7pm show AND Sunday, May 23 - 1:30pm call & 2:30pm show Tentative Schedule for Sunday, May 23rd Ticket Information Costumes Class Photos DVDs Art Days Saturday, May 22th Set-up theater & commons: 10:30am-1:30pm Dress Rehearsal 1:30-4:00pm Dancers in costume, with make-up and hair done. Please arrive 15 minutes early Dinner Break 4:30-6pm Call (time the peformers must be back at the theater) 6pm Show 7-9pm Top Sunday, May 23rd Set-up theater & commons: 11:30am-1:30pm Call (time the peformers must be back at the theater) 1:30pm Show 2:30-4:30pm Clean-up 4:30-5:30pm Top Adults(18-54): $7 Adults (55+): $5 Children (17-): FREE Each family will receive two Complimentary Tickets. Top I do a combination of ordering from dance catalogs and purchasing from local stores to get our costumes. I work very hard to keep the cost down. If possible, I use regular clothes that dancers could wear for regular life as our costume pieces. Typically costumes cost about $35-50. March 5 "1st Portion" is due ($25) Costumes are only ordered for dancers who have made the 3/5 payment. April 2 Balance is due. April 10 Costume Fit & Pick-up 10:30am to 1pm Davis Art Center All payments are made to Yvette directly with cash or check (made out to "Dynamic Dancing with Yvette"). Top Saturday, May 1 Meeting Rooms 3 & 4, and the Art Room Woodland Community Center 2001 East St., Woodland 10am to 4pm Each class will have 15-30 minutes to take a group shot (and optional individual shots) in costume. Length of time will depend upon how many students in that class are participating. Photo order forms will be coming soon! Top Flash photos and videography of the dress rehearsal and shows are not allowed. You can take non-flash photos if you want. The show will be professionally videotaped. Only one of the performances will be taped - not both. The cost for DVDs is as follows: Order before May 14: first copy is $18*, additional copies are $15* Order 5/17-5/23: first copy is $22*, additional copies are $19* To order, please put your information on the order form (available in March) and your payment in the plastic pouch in the black showcase binder. Payment may be cash or checks made out to Dynamic Dancing with Yvette. To receive your DVD, you have the following two options: 1) Pick up your DVD(s) from Yvette during regular dance class days and times, June through August, 2010. (DVDs not picked up become the sole property of Yvette Corvo Misner/Dynamic Dancing with Yvette and there are no refunds.) *2) Include an extra dollar per copy to have your DVD(s) mailed to you. Make sure you write your mailing address on the order form. Top Since our theme this year is "Spanning the Globe", we are doing art projects to represent different countries, the Earth, and the songs we are dancing to. The artwork we create will be used to decorate the theater and cafeteria for the performance. This year's Art Days will be: Saturday, April 10 - 10:30am to 1pm Studio C - Davis Art Center Saturday, May 1 - 10:30am to 1pm Art Room - Woodland Community Center Students may come to any art day they wish for any time frame. Dancers between the ages of 4 and 7 must have a parent stay with them. For those students who cannot make an art day, I will have art projects they can do at home and bring back to me. After the performances, dancers may take home their artwork. Top |
